There comes a time in our life when everything feels heavy. When the challenges come after one another and our hearts struggle with trust and faith. This is when we start searching for morning and evening azkar and important duas in Islam. When we become more prone to the whispers and doubts planted by Shaitan, putting our trust in Allah brings His Divine help in ways we can’t even imagine. The morning and evening azkar are a collection of duas from the Qur’an and Sunnah that the Muslims are encouraged to recite at the start and end of each day in order to seek Allah’s protection against all kinds of harm.
Help from Allah can take any form; it might be a suggestion from a friend, a blog you read online, or a video you watch on TikTok or YouTube. You must catch the hint and act upon it.
Whether you are an optimistic person or not, when you are hit with back-to-back trials, they will make you feel overburdened. Sometimes we overlook the power of daily morning and evening azkar. We are used to reciting a few duas after Salah but had maybe never made the morning and evening azkar a consistent part of our routine.
But these azkar can take the anxiety away, make your heart peaceful, and the worries that once were overwhelming will begin to fade away.
The daily morning and evening azkar are our reminder that we are not alone; Allah is protecting us, and we put our matters in the hands of the All-Powerful, who does everything with perfection.
The importance and benefits of morning and evening azkar are evident directly from the hadith of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ).
Abu Ad-Darda [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Should I not inform you of the best of your deed, and the purest of them with your Master, and the highest of them in your ranks, and what is better for you than spending gold and silver, and better for you than meeting your enemy and striking their necks, and they strike your necks?” They said: “Of course.” He said, “The remembrance of Allah [Most High].” [Then] Mu’adh bin Jabal [may Allah be pleased with him] said: “There is nothing that brings more salvation from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah” (Sahih al-Tirmidhi no. 3377).

Here are five easy morning and evening azkar to begin with, which you can include in your daily routine.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said that there is no slave who says this dua in the morning of each day and in the evening of each night three times, but nothing will harm him.
Translation: "In the Name of Allah, with whose Name nothing on Earth or in Heaven can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing" (Sunan Abū Dāwūd Hadith 5088).
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said that whoever says this in the morning and in the evening, it is a right upon Allah that He be pleased with him.
Translation: "I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet" (Sahih Muslim Hadith 1884).
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Recite the three important duas in Islam: Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times in the morning and evening each. They will protect you from everything" (Tirmidhi 3575).
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ
Translation: "Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him."
Whoever says this dua one hundred times a day will have his sins forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea (Sahih al-Bukhari, 6405).
There is another hadith:
“He who recites in the morning and in the evening (these words) one hundred times, will not be surpassed on the Day of Resurrection by anyone having done better than this except one who utters the same words or more" (Sahih Muslim 2692).
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Translation: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created" (Sahih Muslim 2708).
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“If anyone stops in a place and says: ‘I seek protection in Allah’s perfect words from the evil of what He has created,’ then nothing will harm him there until he leaves” (Sunan Ibn Mājah 3547).
Make learning morning and evening azkar fun and engaging for children. The best way to introduce these azkar and encourage the habit of reciting them daily is to help them understand why they are so important. Islamic children’s books like Mama Musoo’s Dhikr Plants and Sido’s Prayer Beads can work a lot better than simple lectures. These books speak to children at their level, making religious practices like dhikr more about excitement and fun rather than a mechanical habit. This helps them naturally connect with Allah and inspires them to learn important duas in Islam for safety and for developing a connection with Allah.
You can also make it a family routine to recite the morning and evening azkar together as a family. Having some quality time remembering Allah together can make your children look forward to this practice and develop an emotional connection with it. Last but not the least, become their role model. When you show pride and joy in remembering Allah every morning and evening, your children are more likely to learn from you without you having to say a word. You can begin with the morning and evening azkar given above and can add more to the list day by day. And there is no exaggeration; you will witness all the positive changes yourself.
