Degmo Gedi is of Somali descent and has lived in Toronto, Ontario, since the age of nine. As a child, Degmo could always be found either reading, listening to, or telling colorful tales. These childhood memories inspired her to write Ayeyo's Blues, her debut children’s picture book. A curriculum leader and teacher for over fifteen years, Degmo's mission is to depict positive stories of Muslim families filled with humor, love, and family connections.
